This is one of the most impressive set of images, in my opinion, that I’ve ever seen on Substack. These photos are stark, haunting, and absolutely stunning.
What a gorgeous series! The black and white and high key elements give it all a sense of purity. Fire is so destructive, but also purifying. And on a lighter note, no human element? What a departure!
oh Paul, in the early seventies, when I was a very young woman living in Toronto for 2yrs, we visited Jasper, Banff and Rocky Mountains…. My now husband worked at one time for 8yrs in the UK for a large Cdn company and they went skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Your mesmerising photos made my heart ache, opened up countless memories including the thoughts we had then when we said it looked a bit like our native Switzerland…. I would love to keep those images stored somewhere to look at them again and again. They underline and give importance to the happenings then and they also create a certain hope that nature will ‘win’ once more - eventually. Thank you for this.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Kiki. I really appreciate you taking the time to share. I do offer prints of any of my images, if you were interested in something more tangible to refer back to. Please feel free to reach out anytime: https://shoppaulzizkaphoto.com/pages/contact-us

Incredible series of images. Truly beautiful to see the resiliency of nature as it recovers.
It's a beautiful process, if also a challenging one for those who have been so adversely affected by the Jasper wildfires.
Truly beautiful work. Bravo!
Thank you, Michael.

Thank you, Marylynne! My goal this year was to seek out the simpler scenes. I've been enjoying the challenge.
