Last week I set off on a beautiful day but it presented some challenging light conditions. So, what did I do? I went straight for the whitewater! In my experience, this is one of the best subjects to photograph when the light is too harsh otherwise.

Below, I’ve shared some of my best tips for capturing compelling whitewater/waterfall images. To kick it off, I got some footage in the field and, thanks to my team, you’ll get a glimpse into the area we were exploring near the Floe Lake trailhead in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia. Within the tips I’ve included some of my photos that I took that day, which I think show the wide range of potential of shooting on a day when light conditions aren’t in your favour.
